Semeli's Smile
Marina Michaelidou's and my book is out with "Cyprus Cultural Foundation", thanks to everyone for the productive and wonderful cooperation!!
"Semeli knows what she wants more than anything in the world! The red bicycle is the most beautiful bicycle she has ever seen and she cannot take it out of her mind. But then one day, Semeli notices how sad everyone around her seems to be and wonders what can make people truly smile. And is the red bicycle what she really needs to be happy? An unexpected encounter will give her the answer she is looking for!"

Hamburg Exkursion
Well, this comes a little late, but in June my students and me did a very cool 2-day-excursion in Hamburg. We visited two publishing houses, Der Spiegel and GEOmini, saw lots of art in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe and at the Lead Award exhibition, were told many insights into the illustration business by Jonas Lauströer and Igor Kuprin and had fun doing sight seeing and drawing Hamburg's nightlife.

3x3 Children's Show
Hooray, this is so cool, two of my works have been picked for the 3x3 annual Children's Show. This illustration got a gold medal. It's a work for "Das Meer Seiner Worte", published with Baha'i-Verlag.
The second prize I got was bronze for my lovely penguin, "Pengouin glacé", which was published with La Joie de Lire.

I guess it's my Korean year. This book just came out with EEN Art, a beautiful story about a little girl with leukemia and how she's dealing with her situation.

How cool is that! Two of my lion-books, published with La Joie de Lire, are now published in South Korea with Wonder Kids.

Der kleine Hirte und der große Räuber
Coming out in September!!!!!!!

THANKS!!!
I got a wonderful package today: my friend Maral sent me this wonderful book that I couldn't purchase in Bologna. It's by Sandra Poirot Cherif, published with Rue du Monde, and tells the story of an immigrant girl, who tries to live a normal life but is constantly followed by a bird, symbolizing imminent deportation:

Bologna Book Fair
The Bologna Book Fair was great as usual! Here I'm sharing some inspiring links to reports and photos. First a really nice introduction to some French books by Ina Hattenauer (scroll down a bit):
Then some really good sketches by Till Lassmann, here a quick portrait of Vitali and me having lunch:
Lots and lots of fotos by Maral Sassouni, she also got a really good shot of me :-)
This year Camilla Engman exhibited at the Via Zamboni. Here's her own blog post.
Here's a nice blog entry by Maria Bogade, who writes about her first time at the Bologna Book Fair.
If you wrote something about Bologna somewhere, send a link so I can post it here!!!

Wonderful art, done by the kids.
Thanks a million to the teacher Caroline Batt, who prepared the different little workshops.
